Gone Home: Director Commentary

Steve Gaynor, Lead Designer of Gone Home, will be the latest person to take to the GameCity stage and lead us through one of their own works. With a unique perspective into the creation of Gone Home, we’ll be getting an intimately detailed look at the game.

Gone Home is a story exploration game set in Oregon, in a deserted and unfamiliar familial mansion wayyyy back in 1995. It’s an experience rich with nostalgia - set at the height of the Riot Grrrl movement; surrounded by fanzines, band flyers, The X-Files, cassette tapes and SNES Cartridges. It tells the story of a family and their friends, their relationships with each other and with the era.  It’s an unusual videogame in its storytelling ability and we think that Steve is an unusual videogame designer. Which is a very good thing. Who better to tell us all about the story of Gone Home?
