Designing Sound with Joonas Turner

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Joonas Turner, sound designer of atmospheric side-scrolling action adventure game BADLAND, is coming along to the STEAM School to tell you how he makes his games sound so good!

He'll be giving an in depth talk about video game sound design, covering topics such as:

  • Why is sound design so important and what can you achieve with it?
  • Sticking to a style and following through with it in your design.
  • Improving your hearing and how to analyse what you've just heard, why something sounded like it did and what was that sound/scene built from.
  • His ideas behind sound design.
  • Implementing tools

He'll also be taking your questions.

BADLAND, by Frogmind Games, has been downloaded more than 7 million times and has received numerous awards including an Apple Design Award and the Indie Sensation Award at Nordic Game Conference.

Full of clanking gears, grinding metal and slicing blades juxtaposed with the hoots, croaks and rustling leaves of its woodland-gone-wrong setting, BADLAND’s sound design is a fiendish mix of macabre and tranquility.

This is a STEAM School workshop taking place in Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, Room c216.

Children under 16 will need to be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian at these workshops.

Sign up for this session using the Eventbrite ticket link below.
